Goals versus Desires

So, a person who believes that the unborn child is a person, deserving a right to live, may desire that the woman not choose abortion . . . but it is a desire, not a goal. That woman has autonomy and sovereignty over that decision. The goal, on the other hand, of those working in our center was to maximize the amount of support we could give to women in this situation.

He adjusted the game to what he believed would be more realistic to what the soldiers had to face during World War II. It was something he did without direction. He was just given the time and space to apply it in a way that was meaningful and impactful to something that interested him.

Math . . . the Subject that need not be Dreaded

In fact, there is so much you can do in the elementary years that will enhance later understanding and appreciation of math, that even for children who are interested and capable of early math practice and advancement, if you avail yourself of all the natural occasions there is for math practice, you may not have time for an official curriculum because you are busy with activities that will enrich later study of math while making it fun for them now, which in itself enriches math later because they won’t hate math by the time they are doing a more serious study of it (count how many words are in this sentence.)
